Police seek witnesses, hit and run traffic crash, Nerang

Nerang police investigating a hit and run traffic crash on Thursday, February 11, which resulted in a motorcycle rider being hospitalised with serious injuries, are appealing for witnesses and dash cam vision.

Around 5.50am a small black sedan was travelling south down Banyula Drive, Nerang when preliminary investigations indicate the car entered the intersection with the Nerang Connection Road, intending to turn left onto the exit ramp (exit 69) of the Pacific Highway.

The vehicle collided with a blue motorcycle, which had been travelling north along the Nerang Connection Road and also intending to travel onto the exit ramp.

The driver of the small black sedan, possibly a Mazda 2 or Toyota Yaris, slowed down before driving away from the scene.

Police believe the vehicle would likely have sustained damage down the driver's side and also possibly a smashed window on the driver's side.

The motorcycle rider, a 49-year-old Gold Coast man, remains in hospital with multiple fractures.

Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to police, or motorists with relevant dash cam footage, are urged to contact police (details below).
