Police Seek Witnesses in Belmont Hit-Run Case

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses to a hit-run collision in Belmont that took place almost 2 years ago.

On Saturday 12 October 2024 at approximately 1pm a 51-year-old woman was walking along Barrabool Road near the intersection of Riverview Terrace when she was struck by a vehicle.

The Belmont woman sustained serious injuries including facial, skull and pelvic fractures, but the driver of the car failed to stop and help.

Several passersby stopped to help the injured woman and called emergency services.

The vehicle involved is described as a grey Holden Statesman which would have damage to the front windscreen as a result of the collision.

Investigators have released images of a similar car are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, as well as anyone with dash cam footage.
