Police Seek Witnesses in Cudgee Fatal Crash

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist died following a collision in Cudgee last Friday.

It's alleged the vehicle, a red 2023 Toyota Landcruiser ute, and the cyclist were travelling east along Hopkins Falls Road about 8.10am when the collision occurred.

The cyclist, a 70-year-old Warrnambool man, died at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, a 20-year-old Wangoom man, was arrested at the scene and has since been interviewed and released pending further enquiries.

Detectives are currently working to establish whether a large truck was travelling west along Hopkins Falls Road at the time of the collision and are eager to speak the driver to assist with their investigation.

Police also urge anyone who may have been travelling in the area around the time of the collision to check their dashcams.

Investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of the collision.
