Knox Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a teenage boy was viciously stabbed and had his e-bike stolen in Wantirna in June.
It is believed a teenage boy was approached by two unknown males at JW Manson Reserve on Selkirk Avenue on Saturday, 20 June about 6.15pm.
The offenders attacked the victim without warning and pushed him off his e-bike onto the ground.
As the victim tried to run away, he was hit from behind with a machete, causing a deep wound to his shoulder.
Luckily, the victim was able to flee onto nearby Selkirk Avenue where a passerby called Triple Zero (000).
The victim, who was 17 years old at the time, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The offenders took off with the e-bike, a Surron Brand Ultra Bee HP e-bike valued at around $10,000, and mobile phone.
A crime scene was established and SES assisted with a line search of the area to comb for evidence.
An extensive investigation continued in search for the offenders and detectives are now asking the public for their assistance.
Police have released CCTV and still images of two males who they believe can assist with their enquiries.
The now 18-year-old victim suffered at least three wounds from the attack and required surgery, recovering in hospital for four days.
In response to this incident, local police enhanced proactive patrols in the area to provide a dedicated and highly visible presence to the community.
