Police seek witnesses - Robbery - Nightcliff 6 January

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses in relation to a robbery in Nightcliff over the Christmas period.

At around 5:40pm Monday 27 December, an elderly woman was robbed outside a shopping centre in Nightcliff. The offender allegedly pushed the woman to ground before stealing a quantity of cash and fleeing the scene.

The woman received minor injuries and was helped by a number of bystanders.

On 29 December, Strike Force Trident detectives arrested a 33-year-old man and charged him with:

  • Aggravated robbery

He has been remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 16 February 2022.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, "Investigations into this incident are ongoing. We are aware of a number of people who assisted the victim, and we are urging them to make contact to provide statements.

"We believe a Caucasian woman, wearing a red singlet and mustard knee length skirt, who provided the initial assistance may have further information for investigators.

"We are urging her and any others to make contact on 131 444. Please quote reference 9885639."
