Police seek witnesses to Footscray drowning

Police are appealing for witnesses after a toddler drowned in Footscray on Wednesday, 30 June.

The 3-year-old girl was located unresponsive in a pond at Footscray Park, south of the main adventure playground, shortly before 3pm.

She was taken to hospital but sadly died on 5 July.

Detectives are preparing a report for the coroner and are not treating the death as suspicious.

Investigators would particularly like to speak to a woman who may have seen the child leaving the playground area between 2.30-2.45pm.

The child was Middle Eastern in appearance, with dark hair accent and was wearing a khaki-coloured jacket.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
