Police seek witnesses to Melbourne robberies

Melbourne Embona Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance following two robberies in Melbourne earlier this month.

Investigators have been told a male victim was sitting in Flinders Court laneway on his phone when he was approached by two males who demanded he hang up his phone about 12.30pm on Wednesday 8 January.

The 22-year-old victim tried to leave and was assaulted, receiving minor injuries and had his phone stolen.

Later that day (Wednesday 8 January), another victim entered a lift in a hotel in Collins Street about 3.30pm.

The same two males followed the 15-year-old boy into the lift after following him into the hotel and grabbed him by the neck.

The males went through the victim's pockets and stole his wallet.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

Police have released CCTV and still images of two men they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
