Police seek witnesses to Montrose incident

Detectives from Transit Criminal Investigation Unit are appealing for information following a sexual assault in Montrose last week.

Investigators have been told a 19-year-old woman was walking along Canterbury Road, Montrose, towards a bus stop at about 5.50am on 4 March.

A man began following the woman across the traffic lights on Mt Dandenong Tourist Road and up to the bus shelter on Mt Dandenong Road.

The man then sat next to the victim, talking to her before assaulting her.

The victim stood up to move away and the man lunged at her before she pushed him away.

A female motorist pulled up to check on the woman at which point the man ran away in a westerly direction.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, 188cms tall, a solid build, brown hair and a stubble beard.

He was wearing plain dark grey tracksuit pants and a plain black hoodie.
