Police seek witnesses to Sale house fire

Police are seeking assistance following a house fire in Sale early this morning, Victoria Police say.

Emergency services were called to the Ray Street residence about 3.20am after the occupants woke to the front bedroom engulfed in flames.

The fire, which caused extensive damage to the front area of the brick house, was brought under control by local CFA firefighters.

The two occupants, a 39-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were transported to a local hospital by road ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Wellington Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire which is believed to have been deliberately lit.

An arson chemist is expected to attend the scene later this morning.
