Police seeking witnesses - Hobart firearms incident, TAS

Police are seeking witnesses following a firearms incident in Hobart last night, Tasmania Police say.

At 12:02am two men approached the closed steel door of Pablo’s Cocktails and Dreams at 101 Harrington Street and discharged a high powered rifle multiple times through the door.

20 patrons and employees were inside the bar at time of the incident and no one was injured.

After firing shots the men have fled the scene on foot through Harrington Lane, heading north on Harrington Street and east along Bathurst Street.

Following a search of the area police officers located a firearm and ammunition nearby.

Police are following several particular lines of enquiry and investigations suggest the incident was a targeted attack directed at the bar.

Police are seeking witnesses who may have seen a man in the area around the time of the incident matching this description:

  • man up to 40 years of age
  • red facial hair
  • 5 foot 7 inches – 6 foot in height
  • thick set/muscly build
  • wearing a long sleeve black top, black tradies trousers and black boots

Police are also seeking dash cam footage from motorists in the area at the time, including Uber drivers.
