Knox Crime Investigation Unit are investigating an incident which occurred in Wantirna earlier this month, Victoria Police say.
A 73-year-old man was found with head injuries in a restaurant car park in Wantirna Road after 6.30pm on 20 July.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The man was assisted by an unknown man and police would like to speak to this person or anyone else who may have been in the area at the time to determine what has taken place.
At this stage the matter is not being treated as suspicious.
