Police seize firearms and explosives during search warrants in Hay

Police has seized firearms and explosives following two search warrants at Hay, in the state’s Riverina region, yesterday, NSW Police say.

Following investigations, about 12.50pm yesterday, officers from Deniliquin Local Area Command executed a search warrant at an address on Moppett Street.

At the property, police seized a large amount of rifle and shotgun ammunition, as well as a silencer and explosives.

Police spoke with a 67-year-old man and accompanied him to his nearby workplace, where they seized unregistered firearms – being two shotguns and a .223 rifle.

Detectives are continuing with their investigations and charges are expected.
