Police seize vehicle after excessive speeding in Northern Tasmania

A 44-year-old man from Longford has had his vehicle seized by police after being caught travelling 60km/hr over the speed limit this afternoon.

Police from Northern Road and Public Order Services detected the black Audi sedan travelling at 160km/hr on the old Midland Highway between Youngtown and Breadalbane about 1:30pm.

The man, who was driving without a licence, was charged with a range of traffic offences and had his vehicle impounded for 28 days.

He will appear in court at a later date.
