Police smash drug syndicate in Melbourne's north-west

North West Metro Regional Crime Squad detectives arrested five people as part of Operation Chandon, a 12-month investigation into an alleged drug syndicate operating across Melbourne’s north-west yesterday, Victoria Police say.

Detectives, with the assistance of Fawkner Divisional Response Unit, executed seven search warrants at addresses in Glenroy, Hadfield, Jacana, Preston, Campbellfield and Broadmeadows about 7am.

A number of mobile phones and high-end watches were seized.

The syndicate was allegedly involved in drug trafficking, burglaries and thefts across Melbourne’s north-western suburbs.

A 20-year-old Glenroy man was charged with 21 charges, including burglary, theft of motor vehicle and drug related offences.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 20 March 2018.

A 16-year-old girl is expected to be charged on summons with burglary and theft offences.

A 20-year-old Hadfield man and a 23-year-old Jacana man were both charged with 14 charges including burglary and theft related offences.

They were both bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 21 November.

A 22-year-old Broadmeadows man was arrested and released pending further enquiries.
