Police station opening hours being reviewed, SA

Opening hours of some Adelaide police stations are being reviewed as part of the current police Organisation Reform program, according to SA Police.

Today, police have written to both Members of Parliament and local councils in metropolitan Adelaide, seeking feedback on behalf of their communities.

South Australia Police are reviewing the structure of the Local Service Areas and service delivery in metropolitan Adelaide – the first major structural review since 1998.

A key focus of the reform program is to return more police to front line operational duties and this has included an examination of front office services from all metropolitan police stations.

Details of those outcomes have been provided to MPs and councils while inviting written submissions on the issue by the end of the month.

It is proposed that 24-hour front office services will be retained at Elizabeth, Port Adelaide, Christies Beach and Hindley Street, however others are being reviewed.

The proposed changes to opening hours will deliver greater consistency, the ability to better resource 24/7 stations and provide a higher degree of customer service.
