Police Take Road Safety Message to New Heights at Showdown

To help promote road safety messages, Jeff the Road Safety Dog scaled new heights at Adelaide Oval in preparation for Showdown 53.
To make sure everything was ready for this week's blockbuster game, Jeff the Road Safety Dog completed the Roof Climb to the top of the Riverbank Stand and visited the old scoreboard which highlighted the Fatal 5 causes of road trauma:
* Drink and Drug driving
* Seatbelts
* Distraction
* Speeding
* Dangerous Road Users
Our key road safety messages for those attending the Showdown on Saturday night are:
* If you're having a beer at the footy, have a look at the beer. It asks you a really important question – "How are you getting home?" It's best to plan ahead. There are plenty of public transport options to get you home safely
* Before and after the game there will be a large amount of pedestrians around the oval. If you are driving nearby, please slow down, observe any speed limit reductions and follow the directions of traffic controllers
* If you are travelling from regional SA for the Showdown, please don't drive home after if you are fatigued. Roughly 2 out of 3 fatalities are on country roads, and of those fatalities 2 out of 3 are country people. Stay the night, rest and drive home Sunday
* Put your phone away while driving. If you're on your phone while watching the game, you might miss mark of the year! If you're on your phone while driving, you might miss much more.....
Jeff and the Think! Road Safety team will be at Adelaide Oval Saturday night so come and say hello!
