Police to take on firies in 9-11 remembrance match

Queensland Police prepare to play Queensland Firefighter, Queensland Police says

The Queensland Police Service Rugby League Association (QPSRLA) State Rugby League Team will be participating in the annual 9-11 Memorial Rugby League Game against a representative side from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service on Saturday September 9.

The games are held to honour the emergency services personnel who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist attacks and will be the sixth meeting between the two teams.

The QPS will have their eye on this year’s shield hoping to level out the uneven score, with QFES having won the shield three times compared to QPS, who have won twice.

This year is particularly exciting as the QPS and the QFES women’s teams will debut in an inaugural league game between the two sides.

The games are being played at the Redcliffe Dolphins Rugby League ground situated at the corner of Klingner Road and Ashmole Road, Redcliffe on Saturday 9 September 2017.

Games commence at 3:00pm with the QPS Rugby League women’s team versus the QFES women’s team, followed by Queensland Police Over 35’s Rugby Union team versus firefighters Over 35’s rugby team at approximately 4:30pm, and then the main Rugby league game between the Police and the Firefighters.

The game of the day will in fact be the Over 35s Rugby game where you will see sublime skills from all the greatest almost Wallabies in Brisbane.

This promises to be one of the great spectacles of 2017 so come on out on September 9 to show your support.
