Police Treating Fire As Suspicious, Burleigh Heads

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at Burleigh Heads overnight which destroyed a significant section of National Park.

Around 10.25pm, emergency services were called to Goodwin Terrace, following reports of a large vegetation fire.

The fire consumed most of the eastern and north-eastern side of Burleigh Headlands National Park before it burnt-out of its own accord, under the supervision of emergency services.

No people were injured during the incident and no dwellings were at risk.

The walking-track around the headland has been closed to members of the public.

Police urge anyone with information or relevant footage, to come forward.

Investigations continue.
