Police Update 1: Fatal Traffic Crash, Blacks Beach

Mackay Whitsundays Forensic Crash Unit have charged a 39-year-old Mackay man in relation to a fatal traffic crash at Blacks Beach in January this year.

It will be alleged, a Toyota Hilux collided with an 83-year-old female pedestrian along Blacks Beach Road around 5pm on 16 January.

The driver of the Toyota, a 39-year-old Rural View man, remained on scene and assisted police with enquiries.

The 83-year-old female pedestrian from Blacks Beach was transported to Mackay Base Hospital with life-threatening injuries, however, passed away several days later on 20 January.

The man was charged with one count of careless driving causing death.

He is due to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court on 9 March.
