Police update 1: Homicide, Corinda

Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Unit detectives have launched an investigation after a man was fatally shot at a property in Corinda this morning.

At approximately 3.25am, police were called to a Cliveden Avenue address, where the body of a 38-year-old Inala man was located in the front yard of the property.

Initial investigations indicate that the man had become involved in an altercation with a group of people at the address, in the moments before he was fatally shot in the chest.

Five people, including four men and a women, are believed to have then left the scene either on foot or in a vehicle of unknown description.

A crime scene was declared at the property, affecting the drop off zone for Corinda State School in Cliveden Avenue, with an alternate drop off zone on Hughes Avenue being used.

The school and nearby child care centre remains open, and a large police presence will continue throughout the day at the school and surrounding areas.

Close consultation occurred between the school and police and it was determined there was no threat to the safety of children, parents or teachers.

Cliveden Road will reopen to traffic at 2.00pm.

Operation Uniform Fortune has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police are appealing for public assistance to identify and locate the five people involved in the altercation.

Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV from the Oxley and Corinda areas between 3.30am and 4.00am is urged to contact police.
