Police update 1: Homicide investigation, Robina

Detectives have charged a man after the death of a 26-year-old man at Robina last night, August 17.

Around 10.15pm police were called to Markeri Street after reports that a man was allegedly stabbed during an altercation with another man outside a tavern .

Emergency services transported the injured Robina man to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he died around 11pm.

The armed man allegedly fled the scene prior to police arrival and investigations led police to a Mermaid Beach address where they took a 26-year-old man into custody shortly after 2am.

A 26-year-old man of no fixed place of abode has been charged with murder.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Investigators would like to speak to any witnesses and anyone with relevant footage.
