Police Update 1: Police Involved Shooting, West End

Police have charged a 17-year-old girl following an incident in West End on June 10.

Officers were called to a hotel on Ingham Road just before 5.30pm following reports the girl was allegedly armed with a knife was making threats.

It will be alleged the girl came at police and was subsequently shot in the abdomen.

On June 20 she was charged with two counts of serious assault police officer whilst armed with a weapon and one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

She was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow, June 24.

The Ethical Standards Command is continuing to investigate the incident with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
