Police Update 1: Stolen Vehicle, Mount Sheridan

Detectives from Tully and Mackay have charged a 43-year-old woman following an incident involving a stolen vehicle in Mount Sheridan on April 7.

It will be alleged an officer from Cairns Highway Patrol was conducting a Roadside Drug Test (RDT) on George Cannon Drive, when the female driver attempted to flee, and dragged the police officer approximately ten metres with her vehicle, causing minor injuries to the officer's arms and legs.

On May 3, Mackay detectives attended a Nebo Road address and located a woman.

It will be further alleged during a search of the property, officers located a rifle, a quantity of methylamphetamine, drug utensils, ammunition and other items.

A 43-year-old Carruchan woman has been charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs exceeding schedule 3, possessing utensils, authority required to possess explosives, unlawful possession of weapons, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of motor vehicle, driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence, fail to remain at a place and serious assault police officer causing bodily harm.

She was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on July 16.
