Police update 2: Fatal traffic crash appeal, Strathfield

Police have charged a woman following a fatal traffic crash in Strathfield last month.

This afternoon, a 33-year-old Mackay woman has been charged with two offences including careless driving of a motor vehicle causing death and driving with relevant drug in system.

Police will allege the woman was driving east along the Peak Downs Highway between Coppabella and Strathfield on Wednesday February 2 and crossed the centre lines colliding head on with a vehicle travelling westbound.

Sadly, the driver of the westbound vehicle, a 44-year-old Clermont woman died at the scene, the passenger in this vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported by road to Mackay Hospital.

The 33-year-old Mackay woman will appear at Mackay Magistrates Court on May 3.
