Police update 2: Fatal traffic crash, Kinkuna

A man has been charged following a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash that claimed the lives of two women in Kinkuna last month.

On March 21 a 52-year-old Avenell Heights woman and a 32-year-old Avenell Heights woman were killed when a gold Toyota wagon they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a blue Holden sedan on Goodwood Road around 4:35pm.

A 35-year-old Kepnock man, who was the driver and sole occupant of the Holden, has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

He appeared in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court today (April 6), where he was remanded in custody and is next due to appear on June 24.

A second occupant of a gold station wagon involved in a two-vehicle crash on Goodwood Rd in Kinkuna has died in hospital. Police were advised of the death of a 32-year-old female passenger at about 9pm.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a two vehicle crash claimed the life of a 52-year-old woman on Goodwood Rd at Kinkuna this afternoon.

Initial investigations indicate at around 4.35pm a gold station wagon collided with a blue Holden Commodore sedan, entrapping occupants in both vehicles.

The 52-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene, while four other occupants of the two cars were transported to hospital, including a 4-year-old girl.

Goodwood Road re-opened to traffic around 8.15pm.

Investigations are continuing.
