Police update 2: Homicide, MacGregor

A 17-year-old boy has been charged following investigations into the death of a 56-year-old man in MacGregor on April 15.

Officers were called to a house on Delfin Drive around 11.40pm following reports that a man had been shot in a garage.

The 56-year-old was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition but was pronounced deceased a short time later.

A 17-year-old Slacks Creek boy has been charged with one count each of murder, enter dwelling with intent, armed robbery, possession of shortened firearms and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The boy has been remanded in custody.

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone that has dashcam footage or sighted a silver 2013 Hyundai Elantra hatchback possibly bearing false Queensland registration 078YPN.

Detective Superintendent Tony Fleming has reassured the community in Brisbane that their safety is a top priority for police.

"The safety of all Queenslanders is important to the Queensland Police Service and we want everyone to feel safe in their homes and public spaces," Detective Superintendent Fleming said.

"We want to reassure the community that the QPS will continue to work with the community to ensure everyone's safety.

"If you are ever feel unsafe in a situation or witness anything unusual, always call police.

"In this case significant resources were immediately dedicated to the investigation which has resulted in this young man be charged."
