Police update 2: Serious assault at Rockhampton

A 35-year-old Lakes Creek man has been charged with murder following the death of a man after an assault in Rockhampton in January.

Shortly before 10pm on January 28, two men known to each other became involved in an altercation at a Mackay Street house.

It will be alleged one of the men used a wooden chair handle to hit the other man in the head causing significant injuries.

A 32-year-old Lakes Creek man was transported to the Rockhampton Hospital where he died on January 30.

A 35-year-old Lakes Creek man was charged on February 5 with one count of murder.

He will reappear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 5.
