Police update 2: Serious assault at Maryborough

A 51-year-old Maryborough man has passed away as a result of injuries sustained in an alleged serious assault in Maryborough last month.

It will be alleged around 10pm on November 24, an argument commenced between two men outside a licensed premises on Ferry Street.

A 20-year-old Tinana man allegedly stuck a 51-year-old Maryborough man in the head causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement.

The 51-year-old man was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on December 7.

A 20-year-old Tinana man has had his charge upgraded to unlawful striking causing death and he is expected to appear at Maryborough Magistrates Court today, December 12.
