Police have charged a 35-year-old Caravonica man following investigations into a traffic crash at Barron on January 22.
Police will allege at around 5.25pm, a 49-year-old man was walking along the side of Lower Freshwater Road when he was struck by a Nissan Navara driven by the Caravonica man.
The 49-year-old later died as a result of his injuries.
The 35-year-old was charged today with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and driving under the influence of liquor. He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on June 15.
