Police update: Appeal to locate North Sydney man last seen in Newcastle

A geo-targeting SMS has been issued for the Newcastle area as police appeal for public assistance to locate a man missing from North Sydney.

Brian Dowsett, aged 71, was last seen boarding a north bound train at Lindfield Railway Station about 11.35am on Friday (29 July 2022).

Unable to be located since, Brian was reported missing to officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command, who commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Police have established Brian got off the train at Newcastle about 2.55pm on Friday and was last seen heading south towards Beresford Lane.

Police and family hold concerns for Brian's welfare.

Brian is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 170cm tall, of medium build, with short grey hair on the sides, and a grey beard and moustache.

As depicted, he was last seen wearing a long-sleeved navy jacket, dark tracksuit pants, and wearing a grey beanie and a face mask.

Anyone who may have seen Brian or has information on his whereabouts is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
