Police update: Armed robbery at Coolangatta

Police investigating the armed robbery of a teenager at Coolangatta on Monday have charged two people.

Around 9.40pm on September 23, a 17-year-old Tweed Heads boy was walking home along Marine Parade after work when a vehicle allegedly stopped beside him and a male passenger exited the vehicle.

The male allegedly produced a knife, made threats and demanded the boy's property.

The teen handed over an iPhone XR, Airpod earphones, clothing items, jewellery and cash, before the male re-entered the vehicle and drove away.

The teen was not injured during the armed robbery.

A 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have been charged with one count each of armed robbery.

The man will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
