Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two people following an alleged armed robbery of two businesses on the Gold Coast last night, 5 November.
It will be alleged that around 8.15pm, two armed offenders entered an adult store on Brisbane Road at Arundel, threatened a staff member and demanding cash, before leaving the scene of foot with an amount of money.
It is further alleged around 11.03pm, the same offenders entered a food business on Station Street at Nerang, again armed with weapons, where they threatened staff and stole a sum of cash.
The offenders allegedly attempted to flee in a black Holden Captiva along Station Street, colliding with an orange MG ZST before driving off.
No one was physically injured during these incidents.
Around 11.35pm, police located the Holden parked nearby and took a 42-year-old person into custody a short time later.
Following ongoing investigations, a second person, a 25-year-old man, was arrested at around 12.30pm today.
A 42-year-old person has been charged with three counts each of armed robbery, enter with intent, two counts of stealing, and one count each of contravene direction, possess s4 medicines, and fail to appear.
He was due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today, 6 November.
A 25-year-old Nerang man has been charged with two counts each of armed robbery, and enter with intent.
He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, 7 November.
Investigations are ongoing.
