Police update: Child death investigation at Warwick

Detectives have charged a 40-year-old woman with murder following investigations into the death of a two-year-old boy in Warwick in 2018.

Police will allege Connor Horan was in the care of a female babysitter when he was taken to Warwick Base Hospital and declared deceased at 11.30am on August 19.

Detectives from Warwick Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) and the Child Trauma Unit conducted extensive investigations and today arrested a 40-year-old Warwick woman.

The woman has been charged with one count each of murder and grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Detective Acting Inspector Matt Howard thanked the community for its assistance following a recent public appeal.

"This was a very tragic incident and our detectives have been committed to finding answers for Connor's family," Detective Acting Inspector Howard said.

"I'd like to particularly thank the members of the public who assisted the investigative team over recent weeks with valuable information to the case."
