Police update: Child exploitation investigation, Mackay

Mackay detectives have this afternoon charged a fourth man with multiple offences in relation to Operation Westmeath, a protracted investigation into alleged sexual offences committed against four children.

The 21-year-old, who had earlier fled from a Bakers Creek residence, surrendered himself to police and has been arrested and charged with eight offences including rape, unlawful carnal knowledge, indecent treatment of a child, grooming, involving a child in the making of exploitation material and possession of child exploitation material.

He has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday, March 14.

Earlier – Detectives finalised the operation after executing a search warrant at a Bakers Creek residence where they located three men aged 19, 22 and 49. A fourth man, a 21-year-old, ran from the address and is yet to be found – more information – https://mypolice.page.link/wgMR
