Police update: Child found in vehicle at Gracemere

Detectives from Rockhampton Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged two women in relation to a child who was found unconscious on a bus at Gracemere on May 4.

It will be alleged around 8.30am the two women picked the child up from a Gracemere residence.

It will be further alleged they drove to a childcare centre in Gracemere, parked the bus and left the child in the bus.

Around 2.45pm another staff member drove the bus to a school in Lucas Street and observed the child unconscious in the back of the bus.

The three-year-old child was airlifted to the Queensland Children's Hospital in a critical condition and has since recovered.

Today, a 31-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman, both from Gracemere, were served a notice to appear for one count each of grievous bodily harm. They are due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 26.
