Police update: Concern for welfare - Kings Canyon 27 January

A 47-year-old man who walked into the bush after a single vehicle rollover south of Kings Canyon yesterday, has been located by police today.

Police conducted a land search across an area 1km south of Kings Canyon to look for the man who was said to have left the scene of the crash on foot, around 9am.

Two women who were in the vehicle at the time of the incident, received minor injuries and were transported to the Alice Springs Hospital as a precaution.

Police held serious concerns for the man's welfare as temperatures in the southern desert area topped 38 degrees, and the man's injuries were unknown.

"The family of the man advised police that he had managed to return to the remote community of Ukaka, which is some 69 kilometres east of Kings Creek Station yesterday," said Acting Superintendent Michael Potts

"Police have today travelled to the community to confirm his welfare, and are transporting the man to the local clinic for assessment."

Police would like to thank the media and members of the public for their assistance during the search.
