Police update: Homicide investigation, Highland Park

Police have released a picture of a blanket as part of their homicide investigation into the death of a 27-year-old woman at Highland Park on Sunday night.

Around 8.30pm, police were called to a residence on Renfrew Drive following reports of a woman with a gunshot wound.

A 27-year-old Labrador woman was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where she died a short time later.

A crime scene was established at the address where a 27-year-old man, who was a resident, returned around 1am on Monday and was taken into custody.

The 27-year-old Highland Park man was wearing a blanket (pictured) at the time, which investigators believe may have been stolen from a nearby residence.

Police are now appealing to anyone who believes they may be the owner of the blanket to come forward.

Police also continue their appeal for anyone who saw anything suspicious on Renfrew Drive and Kincaid Drive or who has CCTV or dash-cam vision from the area to contact investigators.
