Police update: Man charged over suspicious house fire, Ashmore

Police have charged a 30-year-old man after a suspicious house fire at Ashmore this morning.

Police were called to a disturbance at a residence on Walabah Drive at around 11.10am.

Shortly after the house was fully engulfed in fire.

Firefighters attended and quickly extinguished the fire.

No one was injured during the incident, but the house sustained significant damage.

A 30-year-old Surfers Paradise man was subsequently charged with one count each of arson and fraud and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court April 3.

The fraud charge relates to an unrelated alleged matter.
