Police Update: Officer Injured At Gold Coast

A man has been charged in relation to an incident where a police officer was struck by a vehicle at Nerang on 3 February.

Around 7.40am, officers were responding to a disturbance at a park on Lawrence Drive, where it was reported several people were allegedly threatening another person with a weapon.

On police arrival, it is alleged the offenders left the scene in a white Hyundai I30 bearing false registration plates, striking one of the attending officers.

The 38-year-old male Constable was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 26-year-old Robina man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and an evasion offence.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today, 6 February.
