A man has been charged with multiple offences following a series of alleged attempted armed robberies which culminated in another man being shot by police at Durack on Friday.
It will be alleged that on December 10 a red Hyundai I30 hatchback was stolen from a hire car company at Slacks Creek.
On December 11 the stolen Hyundai was allegedly driven to a carpark on Boundary Road in Richlands where it cut off another vehicle being driven by a 26-year-old man around 12.05pm.
A man wearing a mask and armed with a knife then exited the Hyundai and ran towards the vehicle, forcing the driver to quickly accelerate away.
It is further alleged five minutes later the same stolen vehicle stopped next to a 63-year-old woman putting groceries into her car on Serviceton Avenue, Inala.
A man armed with a knife grabbed the woman and threatened her, demanding the keys to her car.
A struggle ensued with the woman being forced to the ground and the man allegedly attempting to take her bag before he gave up and left the scene in the Hyundai.
At around 12.15pm the same stolen car stopped at lights on Inala Avenue where the two occupants exited and approached a 57-year-old man driving another vehicle.
They opened the doors to the man's car and allegedly threatened him with a knife before punching him multiple times, demanding he leave.
Police quickly descended on the vehicle and a taser and firearm were deployed, resulting in a 28-year-old man receiving a non-life-threatening injury to his buttock.
The man is currently being treated at the Princess Alexander Hospital under police guard.
A male officer received a non-life-threatening injury and was treated at the scene.
The alleged 26-year-old male driver of the red Hyundai was taken into custody.
The 57-year-old man was not seriously injured.
A 26-year-old Maryborough man has been charged with three counts of attempted armed robbery in company, going armed so as to cause fear, unlawful entry of a vehicle and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is due to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow (December 14).
As with all police involved shootings, the incident is being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command, with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission.
