Police update: Police shooting, Sunnybank Hills

Investigators are appealing for witnesses in relation to a police incident at Sunnybank Hills last week, where a man was shot by police.

Police responded to reports of a disturbance around 9pm on Thursday, April 9, on Wynne Street and just after 10pm officers located the man in a carpark on McCullough Street at Sunnybank.

The 43-year-old man allegedly set himself on fire, running towards police before being shot.

Officers extinguished the man and rendered first aid immediately, however he died a short time later.

Police would like to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of the carpark, in particular, a man observed standing near officers following the incident.
