Police update: Search and rescue, Durham

Police have located the body of a man following an extensive search and rescue in the Durham area this week.

Around 4.30pm on Sunday, January 14, emergency services were notified that a man had gone missing along Woomanooka Road that morning.

After their cars became bogged, the man and a 39-year-old Brisbane woman, walked for about thirty minutes before the woman decided to return to the cars.

A passing motorist located the woman and raised the alarm about the missing man.

Police launched a land and air search including SES and general duties officers, with assistance from two mustering helicopters.

The 25-year-old Adelaide man was sadly located deceased by a helicopter around 5pm yesterday approximately 12km from the car.

The 39-year-old Brisbane woman is physically uninjured.

"Police conducted an extensive land and air search over the remote area which sadly resulted in locating the man deceased," Search and Rescue Coordinator, Senior Constable Mark Baker, said.

"Police have been in contact with the man's family, and our thoughts are with them at this time.
