Police update: Serious assaultin Brisbane City

Detectives have charged a man following investigations into an alleged assault in Brisbane City on February 20.

Police will allege around 4:30pm a man entered a jewellery store on Queen Street armed with a knife.

The man then allegedly pushed a male staff member to the ground before fleeing the store on foot.

The 72-year-old male staff member received a minor back injury during the incident.

As a result of information provided by the public, police arrested a man at an address in Wakerley just before 12pm today.

A 27-year-old Manly man has been charged with attempted armed robbery, serious assault of a person over 60 and enter premises and commit indictable offence.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 28.
