Police update: Serious traffic crash at Gympie

A 15-year-old girl has passed away following a serious two vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Gunalda on June 10.

Initial investigations indicate around 2.30pm, a sedan and a 4WD collided along Miva Road.

The passenger of the sedan, a 15-year-old Curra girl, was airlifted to the Queensland Children's Hospital where she later died.

The driver of the sedan, a 23-year-old Belmore River (NSW) man, was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision to come forward.
