Police Update: Traffic Crash Appeal, Ashgrove

An Acacia Ridge teenager has been charged following a traffic crash at Ashgrove last night, 9 January.

Police allegedly attempted to intercept a blue Mitsubishi Lancer with no plates being driven dangerously along Waterworks Road just before 7.20pm.

It will be alleged the 17-year-old boy driving the Lancer accelerated away from police at speed.

The officers pulled over and the boy continued driving in the opposite direction on Waterworks Road before allegedly crashing into a grey Mazda2 hatchback at the intersection with Oleander Drive, at 7.25pm.

A number of occupants of both vehicles were treated for minor injuries.

The boy has been charged with five offences relating to the initial attempted intercept by police, including dangerous operation of a vehicle, evasion offence, learning to drive must be properly supervised and two other traffic offences.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Children's Court on 26 January 2026.

Investigations in relation to the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.

Anyone who may have seen the Lancer around the time of this incident or who may have dashcam are urged to contact police.
