Police update: Wounding incident at Rothwell

Redcliffe detectives have charged a man with attempted murder following the wounding of a police officer at Rothwell this morning.

Emergency services were called to a Jones Street address at approximately 9.25am, in relation to a reported disturbance.

It will be alleged a 30-year-old man was armed with a knife, and stabbed a male senior constable to the shoulder.

The 30-year-old man was taken into custody and remains in hospital in a stable condition with a stomach wound.

He has been charged with one count each of attempt to murder, serious assault police whilst armed, going armed so as to cause fear and wilful damage.

He will appear before the Redcliffe Magistrates Court tomorrow via video link.

The senior constable remains in hospital in a stable condition and is expected to be released tomorrow.
