Police Vehicle has Tyres Slashed in Mayfield

At 7:30pm on Sunday 7 March, Newnham police responded to a two vehicle crash in Mayfield Street, Mayfield.

While police were assisting members of the public at the crash, unknown offenders have slashed two tyres on a marked police vehicle, a silver Toyota Camry sedan, while it was parked in Mayfield Street.

Acting Inspector Mel Death from Launceston Police said:

"Offences of this nature are extremely disappointing. It puts not only the safety of the police members at risk but also the welfare of the public by potentially limiting Tasmania Police's ability to respond to critical incidents."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Launceston Police on 131 444 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppers.com.au
