Police warn drivers of dangerous dust storms, South Australia

Police are warning all motorists across the state to be aware of potential dust storms during the extremely hot weather and strong winds today.

Drivers in both metropolitan and regional areas should remain vigilant as the hot weather conditions are very conducive with bad dust, and dust storms are highly likely to occur in unpredictable areas.

Visibility will be impacted in the event of a dust storm, and all motorists should take extra care and drive to the conditions.

South Australia Police also advises that drivers of any type of vehicle should:

* Put your hazard lights on

* Pull over to a safe spot away from the road

* If possible, keep your vehicle away from trees

Follow the Bureau of Meteorology and Country Fire Service on social media to stay up to date with the severe weather conditions.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity in fire danger areas is asked to call the police attendance line on 131 444.
