Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the robbery of a pizza store in Newcastle last night, NSW Police say.
Shortly after 11pm today, a man armed with an iron bar entered the Maitland Road store via a rear door.
Hr approached four staff members and threatened them with the bar before stealing a small amount of cash from the till.
He ran from the store prior to the arrival of police.
A crime scene was established as detectives from Newcastle Local Area Command commence their investigations.
The man has been described as being of Asian or Aboriginal in appearance, about 170cm tall with a thin build and brown eyes. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a green hat with a black and white patterned bandanna or balaclava with a white hooded jumper, dark woolly gloves and dark long pants with black sneakers.
