Policy-free White plans another year on fence

Michael Ferguson,Leader of the House

Rebecca White's brief and embarrassingly light-on-detail State of the State reply today is likely to be her last, after consigning her Party to another full year of no policies and no alternative plans.

In a 26-minute whinge-fest, the Opposition Leader failed to describe a single new policy or even clarify which of their old, failed policies still stand.

The best she could do was to say that Labor would spend yet another year "reviewing and adding" to their policies. All we know after Ms White's speech is that Labor still stands for absolutely nothing.

Ms White's contribution today will go down as the most light-weight, uninspiring, policy-free speech by an Opposition Leader in memory, even Cassy O'Connor agrees.

It's no wonder the Labor Party room is bored and restless while David O'Byrne is on a pre-coup publicity spree.
